ATHENS (Web Desk) – Greece delivered a landslide no vote to the eurozone’s terms for the country remaining in the single currency, projecting a political shift that could derail the European project.
Following the verdict Greece may face potential financial collapse and exit from the euro, BBC reported.
Greece’s Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has said that the Greeks made a “brave choice” in voting to reject the terms of an international bailout.
According to the the final result in the referendum 61.3% voted ‘No’, while 38.7% voted ‘Yes’.
Thousands of Greeks came out in the streets to celebrate after the vote, waving flags, chanting and setting off fireworks.
Meanwhile, the euro fell across the board in Asian markets after the referendum.
