KARACHI – At least six people, including a young girl, were killed and three children injured in Karachi during heavy rain accompanied by strong winds, due to electrocution and collapsing walls. Electrocution incidents occurred in PIB Colony, Site Superhighway, MA Jinnah Road near Seven Day Hospital, and Surjani Town, while wall collapses were reported in Pak Colony and Orangi Town.
According to details, during the heavy rain on Thursday morning and afternoon, a 30-year-old man, Abdul Wali, died from electric shock near the Quetta Hotel in PIB Colony. His body was transferred to Civil Hospital via Chhipa ambulance. SHO Rana Ajmal stated that preliminary reports suggest the victim was electrocuted from an electric pole, with further details under investigation.
In Site Superhighway’s Ahsanabad Sector 3, 35-year-old Shahabuddin was electrocuted while performing electrical work in a shop. His body was moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital via Edhi ambulance. SHO Muhammad Nawaz noted the deceased was skilled in electrical work, but his residence could not be immediately confirmed.
In Surjani Town’s Hasan Brohi Goth, a 23-year-old man, Sartaj, died from electric shock while wiring at home. His body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Head Reporter Ali Khan stated the young man was performing electrical work at the time of the accident.
In the same area, a 12-year-old girl, Dua Batool, was electrocuted at her home. Her body was also transferred to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
In Pak Colony near Anwar Bakery, a wall of a two-story house collapsed onto a passing rickshaw, killing the 50-year-old rickshaw driver, Irshad Ali. Rescue 1122 teams cleared the debris, and the driver’s body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. He was a resident of the same area.
In Orangi Town near Madina Hotel, three children were injured when a wall collapsed. The injured were identified as 7-year-old Rehman, 13-year-old Qasim, and 14-year-old Ameer Muawiya, and were immediately hospitalized.
