Sir Syed Express resumes service between Karachi and Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI –  The Sir Syed Express, a key train service connecting Karachi and Rawalpindi, has been officially reinstated.

Ameer Baloch, CEO of Pakistan Railways, announced that the Sir Syed Express will now operate under a public-private partnership model. The train will consist of 16 coaches and will follow the Faisalabad route.

The revamped service features a range of accommodations, including one AC sleeper coach, three AC business coaches, one AC standard coach, and eight economy class coaches. Additionally, a dining car will be available, with meals provided by a top-tier catering company.

To enhance passenger comfort, the train will offer free Wi-Fi, and special arrangements have been made to ensure water supply and cleanliness throughout the journey.

Passengers can conveniently purchase tickets via mobile applications, allowing for easy booking from home. The Sir Syed Express is anticipated to contribute approximately three billion rupees in annual revenue to Pakistan Railways.

Ameer Baloch emphasized that this public-private partnership aims to promote self-sufficiency and increase revenue. Furthermore, plans are underway to introduce ten additional trains under similar partnerships by next month.
