KARACHI – The Mysterious death of Sindh lawmaker and PPP leader Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani and his wife at their house in Karachi has taken a new turn after police found an element of suicide during the investigation.
Earlier, speculations swirled around the reason behind the deadly episode as it was unclear whether both were murdered or they committed suicide.
DIG South Azad Khan on Friday said the initial investigation and post-mortem report suggested that the minister first shot dead his wife, Fariha Razzaq and later fired himself in the head. He said that three bullets wounds found the body of Fariha.
“On the basis of the available crime scene/circumstantial evidence and initial post-mortem report, it appears that Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani killed his wife and then committed suicide with the same weapon,” the press release said.
Azad Khan said bullets found at the crime scene were fired from the same gun, adding that house was locked from inside and was opened by Bijarani’s son and servants.
During the investigation, it was surfaced that there was a quarrel between the couple for many past days, the DIG said.
He said “The crime scene was secured and properly photographed. Forensic, fingerprint and investigation teams were called. DVR of CCTV cameras installed at the house has been seized”.

On Wednesday, bodies of the sitting provincial lawmaker and his wife found in their house, located in Defence locality of Karachi, under mysterious circumstances.
He was serving as Planning & Development minister after being selected as provincial minister from PS-16 in 2013.
According to sources, Bijarani’s son, MNA Mir Shabbir Ali Bijarani was at Bilawal House for attending a meeting when the incident surfaced.
Political Background
Bijarani was elected to the Provincial Assembly of Sindh in 1974. He was re-elected to the Provincial Assembly of Sindh in Pakistani general election, 1977.[1][2]
He was elected to the Senate of Pakistan in 1988. He was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan from NA-157 (Jacobabad) for the first time in Pakistani general election, 1990.
He was re-elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan from NA-157 (Jacobabad) as a candidate of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in Pakistani general election, 1997.
He was re-elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan from NA-209 (Jacobabad) as a candidate of PPP in Pakistani general election, 2002.
He was re-elected to the National Assembly from Constituency NA-209 as a candidate of PPP in Pakistani general election, 2008.
