ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Minister for Finance Senator Ishaq Dar on Thursday said that the government has no intent to go for another International Monetary Fund (IMF) Program, after it conclusion in September 2016.
“The twelfth and the last review would be concluded in September 2016 and Pakistan would get around the US $ 500 million and then the government would not need to go for another programme with the fund,” he said while launching Pakistan Economic Survey for outgoing Financial Year 2015-16.
The Finance Minister also said that the next review with the IMF under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) would start in August 2016. He added that he hoped Pakistan’s dependency on the IMF would also end upon the conclusion of the review meeting.
He said that with the prayers of the people and the support of the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, the government in three years had achieved economic stabilization.
Replying to a question, the Minister said that it was his desire that three organizations i.e., State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Former Corporate Law Authority (CLA now SECP) and Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) should be given the freedom to run the economy properly.
He added that currently all three organizations were functioning autonomously.
