LAHORE – Flour prices recorded a significant increase in various cities across the country over the past week, with the price of a 20-kilogram flour bag rising by up to Rs100 in some areas.
According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the price of a 20kg flour bag increased by up to Rs100 in Karachi and Larkana, reaching Rs3,000 in Karachi and Rs2,600 in Larkana.
The data showed that consumers in Islamabad are buying flour at the highest price, with the maximum price of a 20kg bag recorded at Rs3,133. In Peshawar, the price reached Rs3,100, while in Rawalpindi it stood at Rs3,093.
According to the statistics, a 20kg flour bag is being sold for Rs2,960 in Bahawalpur and Rs2,950 in Bannu. The price reached Rs2,800 in Hyderabad, Multan, Sialkot and Gujranwala, while it stood at Rs2,793 in Sargodha and Rs2,750 in Quetta.
The report said the price of a 20kg flour bag in Sukkur increased by Rs60 during the week, reaching Rs2,560. In Bannu, the price rose by Rs50 to Rs2,950.
Meanwhile, a 20kg flour bag is being sold for Rs2,300 in Lahore and Rs2,200 in Faisalabad, among the relatively lower prices recorded in major cities across the country.
