Ch Nisar dispels impression of leading Jeep group in elections

TAXILA – Former interior minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan has denied speculations of making a group in the forthcoming general elections with Jeep as its electoral symbol.

Addressing a press conference in Taxila on Wednesday, the former Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz lawmaker asserted that he was not in contact with the other independent candidates contesting with the Jeep symbol adding that there was no ‘Nisar group’ on the anvil.

The disenchanted PML-N leader also expressed his views about the national government idea of PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif, saying the statement came as a huge shock to him.

The former security czar also expressed concern over an ‘unidentified’ PML-N spokesperson disregarding the party president’s statement as not being in line with PML-N’s agenda.

The political maverick shared that this entire episode was not only saddening for all PML-N workers but also raises several questions that need to be answered.

‘A hung parliament could emerge after the upcoming elections,’ predicted the former minister.

Nisar also reiterated that he will lift the lid on the events that led to his and deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s fallout after the Avenfiled reference verdict, due on Friday.

Nisar also explained that he wished to bring the real facts of his spat with Sharif in the limelight but had postponed his plans owing to cancer-suffering Begum Kulsoom Nawaz’s health.

He, however, hastened to add that since the former first lady’s health was reportedly getting better, he plans to bring forth these details soon.

“The woman sitting in London speaks first but thinks later”, said the former interior minister in a visible reference to the de-facto leader of PML-N, Maryam Nawaz.

He also claimed that Sharif and Maryam don’t listen to opinions contradictory to theirs but clarified that he wasn’t anyone’s pawn either.
