LAHORE – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif is presenting party’s manifesto ahead of general polls set to be held on July 25.
Party bigwigs, including former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Ahsan Iqbal, Ayaz Sadiq, are present on the occasion in Lahore.
The former chief minister of Punjab said, “Empowering the underprivileged section of the society is part of the PML-N’s manifesto”. He said that endowment fund will be continued for poor children, adding that scholarships will be given to female students all over the country, in order to promote the education.
Technical and vocational institutions will be established at every school, he said.
He promised to give employment to 2 million people under the self-employment schemes if PML-N wins the elections, adding that health cards will be issued all over the country. Hospitals
Construction of Diamer Bhasha dam and Mohmand Hydro Power Projects also part of the PML-N’s manifesto, he said, adding that India was building dams on Pakistani waters. The PML-N leader said that the water issue will be tackled on a priority basis.
Giving no deadline for the completion of Diamer Bhasha dam, the former CM vowed to raise funds for it if there is a need. The project will produce 4,500MW electricity, he said.
He announced to launch housing schemes for homeless people in the country, adding that these schemes will create employment for thousands of people.
In order to expedite the judicial system of Pakistan, the PML-N president promised to increase the number of courts and judges. He also vowed to make legislation for transparent and unbiased accountability.
He slammed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf for not establishing hospitals, transportation and schools in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He hoped that KP people will not give votes to PTI in the upcoming elections.
Addressing the ceremony, Shehbaz Sharif also highlighted PML-N’s achievements after winning the 2013 elections.
He added that one of the serious issues was the loadshedding and it was brought to end by the PML-N. He said that 11,000 megawatts electricity was added to the national grid.
Nearly 5,000MW electricity was produced through Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) projects, adding that his party revived the Neelum-Jhelum project.
“There was unemployment and closed industries in the country when the PML-N took over the government and accepted all the challenges,” he said.
Another major issue, Terrorism, which destroyed the country for more than a decade, was eliminated during his party’s tenure through working policies.
“The public should analyse that which party fulfilled its promises,” he said, adding that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif did what he had committed to the nation.
Earlier, Aurangzeb read the message sent by the ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who said that his party was embroiled in multiple controversies during its tenure.
The public expressed complete confidence in the PML-N in 2013 elections, Aurangzeb said, adding that her party raised voice for giving respect to the vote.
