KARACHI – Famed social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi was laid to rest on Saturday after a funeral prayers ceremony that was held in National Stadium Karachi and heavily attended by members of the public, and civilian and military officials.

Edhi was buried in Edhi village in Karachi. Director General Rangers, Maj. General Bilal Akbar and many others were present on the occasion.
Maulana Ahmed Khan Niazi led the funeral prayer.
Contingents of police, Rangers and army troops were deployed to provide security to the gathering.
Two gates of the stadium had been allocated for VIPS and the remaining gates for the general public.
Cheif of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif attended the funeral prayers as well.
Political leaders including President Mamnoon Hussain, Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Chief minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Governor Sindh Ishrat Ul Ibad, Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani, social worker Ramzan Chhipa, MQM legislators Farooq Sattar, Syed Ali Raza Abidi, PTI members Asad Umar, Imran Ismail, a delegation of the Pak Sarzameen Party and many others were also part of funeral prayer.

The army commemorated the occasion with a 21-gun salute and a guard of honor.
