NEW DELHI (Web Desk) – Apple, after more than a year after the official unveil, has launched its first wearable product- Apple Watch, in India on Friday.

The smartwatch starts at Rs.30,900 for the base line Sport model and goes all the way up to Rs.9,90,000 for the Apple Watch Edition, which is made out of gold.

The Apple Watch went on sale in the US in April, but it has taken more than 6 months for Apple to bring the product down to India . This also happens days before Diwali in India, which marks the festival season in the country.

The Watch works only with Apple’s on its own iPhones exclusively. Apple touts a new user interface element borrowed from traditional wristwatches called the Digital Crown. It also has an OLED display and some models also have a sapphire cover glass just like swiss watches.

Apple makes use of a technology called force touch, an advanced type of haptic feedback, which has also made way into its Macs and iPhones.

Using the Apple Watch, people can keep a track of their fitness with a suite of apps and sensors which keep a track of the user, parse notifications from the phone and also communicate with friends and family who also use Apple’s products.

Apple Watch runs on Watch OS 2.0, which adds new features like native applications, time travel and third party complications.

Apple touts a claimed battery life of about 18 hours. The wearable gets charged using wireless charging technology.

It is also one of the most customisable wearables in the market as it is offered in three different models and comes with an array of different bands made out of different materials, which can be swapped easily.

It’s also offered in two different sizes – 38mm and 42mm.

The 38mm models start at Rs.30,900 for the sport model, Rs.48,900 for the standard stainless steel model and Rs.8,20,000 for the 18 carat gold edition model.

Prices increase for the larger 42mm dial.
