LONDON – Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Zubair Hayat said on Saturday that a peaceful, stable Afghanistan was in the best interest of Pakistan for which the latter was playing its role.
Addressing Pakistan’s community in the United Kingdom, General Zubair said there is no military solution to the continuous strife in the land-locked country.
The military official expressed that peace in Afghanistan was fundamental to the security of Pakistan, stressing the need for negotiated settlement in the war-torn neighbor.
“Pakistan has been fighting the world’s biggest and longest war against terrorism for decades,” said Hayat and added that people and the armed forces rendered unprecedented sacrifices to weed out terrorism.
Expressing that 200,000 Pakistani soldiers have been engaged in the war on terror, he urged the international community to find out the peaceful solution to the Afghan conflict instead of increasing numbers of troops.
“Pakistan would welcome and support any sincere move or help if it is done with the consensus” added Hayat.
The official also expressed the solidarity with innocent Kashmiris and their peaceful struggle for freedom and alleged that India was committing ceasefire violations and killing unarmed innocent Kashmiris along LOC to divert the attention of international community from their peaceful struggle in Held Kashmir.
“The world can not turn blind eye to Kashmir issue where occupying forces are using pallet guns to stop them raising their voices against Indian atrocities” noted General Zubair Hayat.
