CHENNAI – A newly married woman in South Indian state of Tamil Nadu has been arrested for murdering her husband by smashing his head with a grinding stone after she was upset that he was not handsome.
The 22-year old woman, who got married about two weeks ago, attacked her husband fatally over the past weekend in their house in Cuddalore area after a brief altercation. Police said the woman started hating her husband, a wood sculptor in his mid 20s, because her friends and relatives said he was not handsome and not a match for her.
The woman later attempted to shift the blame by claiming innocence, the One India News reported. However, the Tamil Nadu police arrested her on the murder charge.
She is currently in police custody.
Last month, a central government employee was arrested for allegedly murdering her husband on the advice of a ‘godman’.
K V Rama, 48, was apparently told by the tantrik to poison her husband, D S Murti (52), a manager in a real estate firm in New Delhi, to bring peace in the family.
