Lahore – The PTI administration has been able to save 49 percent expenses of the Prime Minister’s House and 29 percent expenses of the PM’s Office (PMO) through cutting down unnecessary expenditures during its 2.5 year rule, according to official documents.
In a comparison of expenditures with previous governments, the document highlights that the PPP government, led by former president Asif Ali Zardari had established two camp offices which costed the country’s exchequer approximately Rs3.6 billion, while 245 government vehicles and 656 security officials were also deployed. On the other hand, former PPP prime minister Yusuf Raza Gilani spent Rs570 million for his five camp offices.
Similarly, during the PML-N’s government, former prime minister’s Raiwind camp office cost the national treasury a whooping Rs4.3 billion and stationed 2,717 security officials for security. Former chief minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif spent Rs572 million for his two camp offices, but the incumbent prime minister Imran Khan does not have any camp office.
‘Rs590 million spent in 2018 whereas only Rs280 million spent in 2020’
According to documents, the expense of the Prime Minister’s House in 2018 was no less than Rs590 million and the current administration has managed to bring it down to Rs280 million in 2020.
Also, the PMO expenses which were Rs514 million in 2018, were successfully reduced to Rs305 million in 2019 and Rs334 million in 2020.

As a matter of fact, the Prime Minister did not give any gifts or cash awards under his discretionary powers. At present, the expenditure of the Prime Minister’s House has been reduced to Rs 180 million.
Foreign visits and austerity
The Premier was also briefed on the expenditure incurred by the former chiefs on foreign trips. It was informed that Yousuf Raza Gilani had made 48 visits on which an amount of Rs 570 million was spent from the national exchequer.
Pervez Ashraf spent 107 million on 9 tours, Nawaz Sharif made 92 foreign tours and spent 4.3 billion rupees, and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi spent 260 million rupees on 19 tours.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Imran Khan’s two foreign trips cost Rs 176 million, while the Prime Minister saved millions of rupees without having a camp office.
