NEW YORK – The co-chairman of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Bill Gates lauded the progress achieved in the eradication of polio over the last four years in Pakistan on Friday.
During a meeting with Premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly Gates expressed hope that the goal of complete eradication from the remaining three pockets in the country would be achieved soon.
He also thanked the Prime Minister for continuous commitment of the Government of Pakistan for weeding out polio and expressed hope that the Prime Minister would personally monitor progress in this regard.

The Microsoft founder also expressed willingness to expand engagements in other areas, including the broader immunisation programme.
Gates also expressed interest in making the financial services of Microsoft accessible to the people of Pakistan enabling them to do financial transactions and use online services.
Prime Minister Abbasi expressed gratitude to Bill Gates for the work his Foundation was doing in Pakistan, particularly for the eradication of polio.
