ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday said the government has decided to contact United States’ Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Interpol to seek assistance in the investigation of Axact fake degree scandal.
Nisar, while talking to media persons in Islamabad, announced that initial investigation report of this matter scandal will be completed with in 7 to 10 days and no pressure will be accepted in this regard. “The interrogation is moving ahead rapidly,” he added.
The minister went on to say that FIA took action on the right time otherwise many substantial evidences could have gone absolved.
He informed the reporters that Interior Ministry will seek assistance from Pakistan Software Association, Federal Board of Revenue and other investigation institutions as well. We may also write to British authorities in this regard, however no final decision has been taken, he said.
He requested the news channels to avoid quoting FIA sources while reporting about Axact scandal. He further added that it is a sensitive matter which is damaging Pakistan’s global image.
While commenting about fake degrees Nisar reminded the reporters that many of the sitting parliamentarians also have fake educational certificates. FIA may be given a task to carry out investigation into this matter as well, he hinted.
Earlier FIA officials had raided on Axact offices in Rawalpindi and Karachi after a New York Times’ report said the company was selling fake degrees online.
