Custom Collectorate seizes Indian goods, vehicles worth Rs20 million

ISLAMABAD – The Model Customs Collectorate, Islamabad seized multiple items with worth ranging in millions in an anti-smuggling drive under the directions of member Customs, Mr. Jawwad Agha.

A special anti-smuggling team headed by Assistant Collector Customs, Fahd Iqbal launched an operation under the direct supervision of Collector Customs Ms. Seema Raza Bokhari and Additional Collector Customs, Ayesha Bashir Wani.

The team intercepted a truck along with a 40 ft container from M2 on Saturday.

Apparently, the container looked empty but smuggled goods were lying in a secret chamber, behind a fabricated wall.

Some of the items confiscated as a result of the operation are of Indian origin and officials believe the stuff was being transported to Afghanistan through transit trade and later it had to be smuggled back to Pakistan.

The confiscated items consist of smartphones, high-end fabric, milk powder besides other items with an approximate combined worth close to twenty million Pakistani rupees.

In addition to this major seizure, the collectorate was able to seize several high-value non-duty paid vehicles as well.

The department has seized goods worth over 170 million PKR in August alone.
