LAHORE – An accountability court on Monday extended physical remand of former senior provincial minister Abdul Aleem Khan till March 5 in assets beyond means case.
Earlier, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials produced Abdul Aleem Khan before Accountability Court Judge Syed Najamul Hassan Bukhari on expiry of physical remand term.
The NAB prosecutor apprised the court about investigation progress. He pleaded the court to extend physical remand as further investigations were required.
However, defence counsel opposed the plea saying that no physical remand was required. He submitted that all assets were declared in income tax returns and complete details had been provided to NAB officials.
The court, after hearing detailed arguments of the parties, extended physical remand of Aleem Khan till March 5 and directed to produce him again on expiry of the remand
term.
Strict security arrangements were made on the occasion and a number of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf workers were also present to express their support for the former senior provincial minister.
It is pertinent to mention that Aleem Khan was arrested earlier this month when he appeared before the NAB team at its regional headquarters in connection with the case.
