BUENOS AIRES (News Desk) – While Argentina’s legendary footballer Diego Maradona and the country’s President Mauricio Macri have requested Lionel Messi to continue playing for the national team, several other Argentine players are expected to step down.
According to local media reports, Sergio Aguero, who plays for Manchester City, has warned that other players of Argentina’s national team could also quit following Messi’s departure.
Arguing that the star player’s resignation would badly affect the Argentinian line-up, he said that players were devastated in the dressing room, and after Leo several other players were also wondering whether to continue or not.
He, however, did not clearly mentioned if he too was going to resign, while some reports have claimed that Javier Mascherano and Gonzalo Higuain are set to tender their resignations.
Argentina lost to Chile in 2016 Copa America, and have continuously failed to win any major football tournament, including 2014 World Cup where the team was beaten by Germany in the finals by 1-0.
