ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Naeemul Haque stated on Thursday that efforts were being made to appoint Director General Intelligence Bureau Aftab Sultan as the next chairman of National Accountability Bureau.
Talking to newsmen outside the Supreme Court, Naeem stated his concerns over the fact that the NAB head or IB chief could not defend the interests of the country with a puppet premier in place.
He maintained that former premier Nawaz Sharif was going to London and it was not sure whether he would return home or not.
“Nawaz Sharif cannot escape accountability,” he declared.
The PTI spokesperson said that media misinformed people on the issue of opposition leader as Imran Khan was the sole candidate of the party for that slot.
The politician vowed to put efforts for making the inquiry report of Dawn Leaks public adding that it was a conspiracy hatched by Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz against Pak Army.
He claimed that the Model Town inquiry report formulated by Justice Baqir Najfi was not being put forth as Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and law minister Rana Sana Ullah were involved in that incident.
Talking about the role of the accountability watchdog, the leader expressed that according to NAB rules, every case is winded up in a span of one month, however, Nawaz Sharif was granted six months for his corruption references.
He disclosed that the party would move the apex court against the amendment in Election Bill 2017 claiming that it was in violation of article 62, 63 of the constitution.
It bears mentioning that the current chief of NAB, Qamar Zaman Chaudhry is completing his term on October 10 and the next man for the slot would be decided by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah.
In a bid to effectively register its opinion for the next NAB chief, PTI is working hard to take Muttahida Quami Movement on board, facing the ire of social media for an apparent U-turn regarding its earlier stance against the then Altaf Hussain led party.
