ANP, HDP join hands with BAP for coalition govt in Balochistan

QUETTA – Awami National Party (ANP), has announced that it will support Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) for the formation of the next provincial government.

Making the announcement at BAP’s Quetta office, president of ANP’s Balochistan chapter and newly-elected member of the Balochistan Assembly Asghar Khan Achakzai said his party had decided to form the alliance in the province in the larger interest of the province and the people of Balochistan.

“BAP will sincerely strive for legitimate rights of Balochistan under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and will remove backwardness of the province”, he added.

According to BAP president Jam Kamal, independent candidates are also willing to join the party and efforts are underway to contact other parties to form the Balochistan government.

BAP president Jam Kamal has surfaced as a strong contender for the Chief Minister’s slot.

With the inclusion of independent candidates who had joined BAP following the July 25 results, the number of BAP legislators in the Balochistan Assembly rose to 18 out of a total of 51 general assembly seats excluding reserved seats.

Awami National Party (ANP) had secured 3 while the Hazara Democratic Party (HDP) had won 2 seats in the Balochistan Assembly.
