RAWALPINDI – Municipal authorities in Punjab continue to raze several illegal structures in a fierce anti-encroachment drive across the province.

Yesterday, the Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC) with the help of local police demolished 10 shops and 47 stalls at Pirwadhai General Bus Stand.

The RMC operation against illegal occupants and land mafia was conducted on the directives of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Omar Jahangir.

Pirwadhai Bus Terminal, the main source of transportation to and from the twin city of Islamabad, was “infested with illegal structures and mafias”. Authorities say once all illegal structures are removed, facilities available at the bus stand will be improved to come up to the standards befitting for a big city like Rawalpindi.
