ISLAMABAD – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has initiated a probe into the assets owned by the former information minister, Marriyum Aurangzeb.
A NAB spokesperson said on Tuesday that they have initiated the probe after receiving a complaint against the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader.
“We cannot reveal the complainant’s name at this time,” the spokesperson said and added that the complainant has provided details of assets owned by the PML-N leader.
Aurangzeb is the current spokesperson of the PML-N. She served as Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting during the last stint of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz.
The development coincides with the arrest of Khawaja Saad Rafique and Khawaja Salman Rafique by the anti-graft body after their interim bail was not extended by the Lahore High Court.
A NAB spokesperson said the PML-N leaders were arrested after the Lahore High Court (LHC) rejected their request for an extension in their pre-arrest bail in the case pertaining to the housing society scam.
“The court’s decision confirmed substantive evidence against NAB suspects,” the spokesperson added.
