RAWALPINDI – Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa presided over the 216th Corps Commanders’ Conference on Thursday with top commanders pledging to support all stakeholders for bringing Afghan war to a logical peaceful conclusion.
The forum held at Army’s General Headquarters reviewed the geo-strategic environment with special focus on regional security and the situation on Pakistan’s eastern and western borders including the Line of Control (LoC).
According to a communique issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), progress of ongoing stability operations for internal security was also discussed.
“The forum highlighted the importance of regional approach to eliminate roots of terrorism and attached hopes for the success of ongoing Afghan reconciliation process,” said the ISPR statement.
The military’s top commanders also pledged to safeguard the country against all external threats while consolidating gains of counter-terrorism military operations, which have put the security situation of the country on a positive trajectory for socio-economic progress and development.
Addressing the commanders, the military chief said, ‘We shall continue to support all state institutions for peace, stability and progress of the country in best interest of the people of Pakistan’.
