From penniless cleaner to Oscar-nominated actress, Olivia Colman s story is nothing but inspiring

CALIFORNIA – Olivia Colman is a well known English actress. The star had received numerous accolades, including three British Academy Television Awards, four British Independent Film Awards, and two Golden Globe Awards.

Colman came to prominence for her supporting role as Sophie Chapman in the Channel 4 comedy series Peep Show. Her other TV comedy roles include Green Wing, Beautiful People, Rev. and Twenty Twelve. She also played various roles in That Mitchell and Webb Look.

For her performance in the AMC/BBC miniseries The Night Manager, Colman had won the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress. The super achiever actor was once suffering from the toughest times we are not aware of.

Colman was nominated for her super performance as Queen Anne in The Favourite, and according to speculations, she will be winning the Oscars for it.

The Oscar favourite Olivia Colman was once a penniless cleaner and she used to live in a friend’s roof space. Colman didn’t  even have enough money to feed herself simple food like potatoes.

Before entering the field of showbiz, Colman worked as a cleaner and use to give half of her pay to her husband.

Talking about her passion for acting, Colman said that she was ‘not a very good one, although I was cheery’ as a cleaner. ‘There were years of no work. It was a hard time. I actually really loved my cleaning jobs. I loved the job satisfaction. I’d really go to town. I’d wipe skirting boards, the top of lights. I never looked in drawers.’

She never wanted to do anything but act, though. ‘Being able to put ‘Actor’ on my passport was all I wanted in the world.’

Also, talking about  her early married life, Olivia stated, ‘We had what we call our Angela’s Ashes day when we first moved to London from Bristol (in 1998). I had £1 left in my overdraft and cash machines don’t dispense pounds.”
