At least 12 die as heavy rains, stormy winds wreak havoc across country

LAHORE – At least 12 people were killed and other dozens got injured after heavy rains and gusty winds hit different parts of the country on Monday night.

According to details, one person was killed in Shadbagh area of Lahore after the wall of a house collapsed due to heavy rain. Rain-related incidents also injured at least 16 people in the city. Parts of the city were also plunged into darkness after more than 150 feeders tripped, disrupting power supply due to rain.

In Khanewal, at least four people were killed while three labourers died in Hasilpur in roofs and wall collapse incident. A man was electrocuted in Dunyapur when an electricity cable fell due to gusty winds.

More than a dozen were injured in Multan, Shujabad, Manchanabad and Faisalabad in rain-related incidents. According to FESCO, more than 110 feeders tripped in Faisalabad due to heavy rains and storm.

According to media reports, about three people were killed when a house collapsed in Chital due to a landslide caused due to heavy rain.

The Khanewal district witnessed heavy hailstorms which damaged many valuables. The hailstorm also damaged wheat and other crops across the district.
