ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Tuesday issued a show-cause notice to Express News for airing ‘controversial’ show on Saudi Arabia-Iran issue.
“The content aired in a programme of the private TV channel on January 3 could not only hurt the religious emotions of different sects in Pakistan but also diplomatic ties with other friendly nations,” the notice said.
The news channel has clearly violated the PEMRA rules and section 19 and 19-A of constitution of Pakistan as well.
The PEMRA rules strongly prohibits all TV channels from airing any content that could spread trigger sectarian violence, target armed forces of Pakistan or affect Pakistan’s ties with other nations.
