ISLAMABAD: A local court in Islamabad has adjourned the defamation suit filed by Ali Mustafa Dar against Pakistan Tehreek- e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan till July 12.
According to reports, the plaintiff Ali Mustafa Dar, son of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar had earlier filed a defamation suit against the PTI chief for making “false statements” against the Dar family with regards to the Panama leaks.
The petitioner has demanded Rs 5 billion from Khan in damages as well as a public apology. He said Khan had alleged in a press conference that the two sons of Ishaq Dar owned two towers in the UAE, which had been acquired through illegal means.
In the petition, Ali Dar also slammed Khan’s statements for being “utterly false and fabricated and present[ing] a distorted and fictitious account of the facts.”
Additional District and Sessions Judge Raja Khurram Ali Khan on Monday ordered PTI supremo Imran khan to present a written explanation before the court at the next hearing.
Imran Khan is being defended by renowned lawyer Babar Awan.
