Sindh Police IG went on leave voluntarily, says CM Murad Ali

KARACHI – Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah cleared the air regarding Sindh Police IG A.D. Khawaja, stating that he voluntarily went on leave.

He also rubbished rumours that the chief minister was taking orders from Dubai, where PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari resides, adding, “In Sindh all decisions are taken by the Chief Minister. Yes, important matters are discussed with others.”

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah discharged IG Sindh Police A.D. Khawaja of all duties on Monday and sent him on 15-day leave.

According to multiple media reports, AD Khawaja was sent on forced leave by Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah, with additional IG Mushtaq Mehar taking charge of his responsibilities.

The decision also faced much criticism as Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar on Tuesday said that it was unfortunate that an “honest” IG Sindh Police had been sent on forced leave.
