LAHORE – Federal Government has decided to launch a crackdown against the NGOs involved in hiding foreign funding, sources said on Thursday.
The authorities have also prepared lists of the NGOs involved in this malpractice and raiding teams have also been set up to conduct raids.
According to chief commissioner office, around 1427 NGOs are registered however, no NGO has provided the details of foreign funding. Therefore, registration of around 471 NGOs has been cancelled this year for failure to provide details of about the funding.
No record is available as most of the NGOs did not provide detail about the foreign funding and their usage, a labour department official said.
“All the NGOs are being put under scanner while, a crackdown will be started soon”, he added.
