Ch Nisar rules out negotiations with PTI for seat adjustment in general elections

ISLAMABAD – Former interior minister and disgruntled leader of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz, Chaudhary Nisar ruled out the possibility of seat adjustment with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in upcoming general elections.

The mouthpiece of dissident Nisar denied any negotiations with PTI regarding NA-59, PP-10, and PP-12.

Nisar’s statement was followed by a denial by PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhary who said that the party has no seat adjustment with Nisar terming the news “fictitious and baseless”.

“PTI has directly nominated the senior vice-president Ghulam Sarwar Khan. We will field our own candidates across the country,” he said.

Earlier last month, the former interior minister announced contesting polls from his stronghold NA-59 and two provincial seats.

Nisar served as a lawmaker from NA-52 Rawalpindi. After the delimitation process by Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the new constituency NA-59 comprises almost 60 per cent of areas which formed NA-52.

Nisar has been winning the National Assembly seat since 1985. He has served as an MNA from Potohar region right times in the lower house of the parliament.
