LAHORE – The former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo, Nawaz Sharif, has summoned a party meeting in Jati Umra tomorrow (Saturday).
After his release from Adiala jail on Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) orders, the three times former premier has resumed his political activities in Jati Umra by calling a moot of party leaders to discuss the future strategies.
During the meeting, the former prime minister is likely to discuss upcoming by-elections. He will also meet the legal team for consultation of National Accountability Bureau s (NAB) cases.

- The National Assembly seats NA-35, NA-53, NA-60, NA-63, NA-65, NA-69, NA-103, NA-124, NA-131 and NA-243 will carry out polling for by-elections.
- In Punjab, the polls will be conducted on the seats in PP-3, PP-27, PP-87, PP-103, PP-118, PP-164, PP-165, PP-201, PP-222, PP-261, PP-272, PP-292 and PP-29
- In Balochistan, it will be held on PB-35 and PB-40
- In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, PK-3, PK-7, PK-44, PK-53, PK-61, PK-64, PK-78, PK-97, and PK-99 were left vacant.
- Sindh assembly seats PS-30 and PS-87 will also conduct by-elections
Earlier, disgraced premier Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (r) Mohammad Safdar were released from Adiala prison on Wednesday evening after the Islamabad High Court suspended their sentences in the Avenfield corruption reference.
Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was sentenced to 10 years in jail, his daughter Maryam was sentenced to seven years while son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar was sentenced to one year in prison by the accountability court Judge Muhammad Bashir on July 6.

A two-member IHC bench, comprising Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, gave the judgment on petitions filed by Sharifs challenging the Avenfield verdict against them.
Meanwhile, the National Accountability Bureau decided to file an appeal against the Islamabad High Court’s verdict which suspended the conviction of former premier Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam and son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar in the Avenfield reference.
The NAB chief, Justice (r) Javed Iqbal chaired a high-level meeting of the accountability watchdog at its Islamabad office on Wednesday and decided to file an appeal in the supreme court against the decision of the Islamabad High Court.
