NAB chief sacks two officers over corruption

ISLAMABAD – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal sacked two officers of the Karachi chapter on Friday after charge of corruption was proved against them in a departmental inquiry.

Deputy Director (BS-18) Sarvesh Sheikh and Deputy Assistant Director (BS-16) Shakir Ali were sacked as per the directives of the NAB chief.

According to a NAB spokesperson, the officers were provided ample opportunity to prove innocence, but they failed to defend allegations levelled against them following which they were dismissed from service after completing all legal formalities.

“There is no room for corrupt individuals in NAB. It not only considers core eradication its foremost duty but also sincerely taking practical steps in this regard,” he said and added that NAB was diligently pursuing guidelines of the chairman.

It’s relevant to mention that NAB chief Justice (r) Iqbal had vowed self-accountability after taking over charge as the head of the anti-graft body.
