NACTA Directorship: PM Imran orders Zartaj Gul to withdraw letter for sister s appointment

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday directed that the letter written by Zartaj Gull, Minister for Climate Change, to National Counter Terrorism Authority for the appointment of her sister to authority’s top slot, should be withdrawn.

The letter was written by Zartaj Gull for the appointment of her sister Shabnum Gull as the Director of NACTA; the appointment had drawn widespread criticism from political analysts and social media users.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister, Naeemul Haque took to Twitter on Sunday and announced that ‘no one in the PTI govt is can promote their relatives/friends by using their positions[sic]’.

Shabnam Gul was serving as an assistant professor at the Lahore College for Women University and was sent to NACTA as a Grade-19 officer on deputation.

As netizens criticised the regime for nepotism, Minister for science and technology, Fawad Chaudhry took to Twitter to defend her appointment while outlining her credentials.
