LAHORE – One of the biggest healthcare facilities introduced by the government of the Punjab to deal with diseases linked to kidneys and liver is going to be functional by the end of this year.
Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday visited the site of the project called ‘Pakistan Kidney & Liver Institute and Research Centre (PKLI & RC)’ and review the progress. The first phase of the project will be naugurated by 25th of December 2017.
PKLI, $200 million project with its hepatitis prevention & treatment clinics (HPTC) in all the districts of Punjab, will become one of the biggest healthcare facility in the world.
On March 19 this year, Shehbaz Sharif had laid the foundation stone of the PKLI and RC with an aim to provide modern and best medical facilities to kidney and liven patients with liver transplantation facility as well.
“Instead of Punjab, this project has been named as Pakistan Kidney & Liver Transplant Institute & Research Center because it would provide medical facilities to people from Mehran Valley, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan and Punjab.”
The project is the first hospital in the country to be built on JCI Standards (international standards for healthcare).
