Nawaz calls for releasing all past commission reports amid Model Town incident details

LONDON – Ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif has demanded that all inquiry reports, including Hamoodur Rehman commission report, prepared by commissions in the past should be released.

The former premiers’ demand follows orders of the Lahore High Court (LHC) to make public the report of Justice Baqir Najfi on Model Town incident in which at least 14 people were killed and over 100 injured.

Talking to media in London, Nawaz referring to the verdict of the Supreme Court in the Panamagate case said that the decision has jolted the country. Lamenting the decision of the apex court, he said that five judges’ decision had devastated the country.

He said, “I was disqualified for curbing terrorism and load-shedding,” adding that there were load-shedding of around 20 hours in the country in 2013.

He added that corruption cases, which have been made against him and his children to target them, were unacceptable.

Nawaz said that his government faced sit-ins after holding the office but the projects related to people interest were carried out to facilitate the masses. He said that what kind of precedent was being set by staging the sit-ins.

He said that a dictator ousted a prime minister, adding that the courts also did the same. He added that whether courts have been made to justify the martial laws only.
