LAHORE – The former President Pervez Musharaf has expressed that the elections of 2013 were rigged by the Election Commision of Pakistan and returning officers but on the orders of then Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
In an interview to a television channel on Sunday, Musharaf rejected the claims of Imran Khan that Army was involved in election rigging, placing the blame on the top judge.
The Chief of All Pakistan Muslim League said that he did not take any advantage from General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, adding that he met PPP leader Benazir Bhutto many times in Abu Dhabi.
The army officer-turned-politician asserted that rumours swirled around about ISI’s role in the mega show of PTI in 2011.
The retired military general said that no COAS had good relations with Nawaz Sharif adding that even Benazir Bhutto had disputes with the Chief Justice and presidents.
Pervez Musharraf expressed that the role of Army was to normalize the relations between representatives of state institutions.
The 74-year politician said that he had no regret over the decisions he made during his tenure, adding that all of his property was established through legit sources of income.
