MOSCOW – Croatia beat Russia 4-3 on penalties to eliminate the host Russia in a dramatic quarter-final which ended 2-2 after extra time on Saturday.
Ivan Rakitic stroked home the winning penalty to send Croatia into a semi-final against England.
England will be playing FIFA World Cup semi-final after 28 years.
Earlier, Russia outclassed favorite Spain on penalties in pre-quarterfinals to send them home.
