PESHAWAR – A woman has filed her nomination papers to contest the upcoming polls against the Jamaat-i-Islami chief Sirajul Haq.
Sobia Khan, a former MPA of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on women reserved seat, filed her nomination papers on Monday to contest the 2018 elections from NA-7, where the JI chief is also contesting.
Another woman, Hameeda Shahid of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), will also run for the constituency – where women were not allowed to contest elections in the past.
Also on Monday, several candidates filed their nomination papers for two NA and five provincial assembly seats in Lower Dir.
A total of 28 candidates, including 14 independents, submitted their nomination papers only for PK-14. JUI-F provincial chief Maulana Gul Naseeb Khan, former federal minister Malik Azmat Khan of PPP, former district president of PTI Fakhr uz Zaman and former provincial minister Bakht Baidar Khan are among the candidates.
