KARACHI – The Sindh Government Friday announced a public holiday on November 15, 2016 on account of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai’s annual Urs.
According to a notification, educational institutes and offices of provincial government would remain closed on Thursday (NOV-15).
Bhittai was a noted Sufi, scholar, saint, and poet, widely considered to be greatest Muslim poet of Sindhi language.
“The Government of Sindh has been pleased to declare 14th safar 1438 (A.H) on 15th November 2016 Tuesday as a Public Holiday throughout the Province of Sindh on the occasion of Urs of Hazrat Shah Abdul latif Bhitai (R.A) for all officers, Autonomous, Semi-Autonomous Bodies, Corporations and Local Councils under the Administrative Control of Government of Sindh, except essential services,” the notification reads.
