IndiaKeepNajamSethi: Tweeps urge PCB head to stay in India

LAHORE – While the Indian hardliners derailed Pak-India series talks between two cricket boards on Monday, twitter users bombarded the social media with tweets asking India to keep PCB top official Najam Sethi.

With a hashtag #IndiaKeepNajamSethi, social media users took it to Twitter for criticising Mr Najam Sethi’s tour to India.

Calling the head of PCB’s Executive Committee “the mastermind of 35 punctures”, the tweeps suggested the neigbouring country to keep Mr Sethi “if you want to rig and win the next elections”.

A humble Twitter user wrote: “We don’t need him [Sethi]… Just return our S Y khan [Shahryar Khan]”.

Despite the fact that Pakistan Cricket Board officials – including PCB Chairman Shahryar Khan – are in India only to convince the Indian cricket board, BCCI, for a bilateral series, the cricket fans in Pakistan are not happy with the efforts.

They condemned Sethi’s invitation to India’s leading cricketers to participate in the first edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The first edition of the Pakistani T20 league is scheduled to be played in the United Arab Emirates in February 2016.

Pak-India cricket talks were cancelled on Monday after workers of Shiv Sena stormed the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai to protest plans to resume cricket matches between India and Pakistan.

Shortly before scheduled meeting of Pakistan Cricket Board chief Shahryar Khan and new Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Shashank Manohar, some 50 members of the Shiv Sena Hindu militant outfit stormed the board s headquarters at Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.

The extremists carried saffron flags symbolic of Hinduism and black flags to condemn resumption of Indo-Pak cricketing ties, shouting anti-Pakistan slogans.
