LAHORE – The Lahore High Court extended the bail granted to Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz leader, Hamza Shehbaz till May 27.
A two-member bench headed by Justice Baqir Ali Najafi granted bail to the lawmaker who appeared before the bench amid tight surveillance on Wednesday.
The bail was granted in multiple cases including Ramazan Sugar Mills, assets beyond means and Saaf Paani company.
During the hearing, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) official informed the bench that Hamza could flee Pakistan in case he is not arrested.
‘Hamza Shehbaz established assets worth millions through unknown sources of income,’ the NAB official told the bench.
He continued that Salman Shehbaz and Hamza’s mother received billions in their bank accounts from abroad.
‘It is necessary to arrest Hamza Shehbaz,’ the NAB lawyer pleaded and added that suspicious transactions worth Rs500 million were traced in Hamza’s bank accounts.
After listening to the arguments, the Lahore High Court barred NAB from arresting Hamza Shehbaz till May 27th.
Talking to newsmen after the hearing, Hamza Shehbaz expressed that [we] were not afraid, asserting that Shehbaz Sharif would come back to the country.
He also fired a broadside at the functioning of NAB and said the bureau should set up its own political party and forge an alliance with Imran Khan.
