ISLAMABAD – Pakistan will hold two international squash events this year after the Professional Squash Association (PSA) lifted a ban imposed on the country on Thursday.
The PSA imposed ban on Pakistan in February this year citing security concerns as the reason for its implementation.
“The decision to impose the ban on Pakistan was made after extensive consultation with sports risk [management departments] in relation to security concerns but [the] PSA is now satisfied that there are no immediate security concerns [in Pakistan],” reads the PSA press release.

Pakistan will now host a men’s tournament and a women’s event in Islamabad.
Pakistan dominated squash like no other country in the world, the domination lasting for the best part of five decades. It reached its peak in the 1980s and 1990s during the reigns of Jahangir Khan and Jansher Khan.
Between 1950 and 1997, Pakistan amassed over 30 British Open titles, 14 World Open titles and several other PSA professional titles.
