Woman killed, 17 injured in Lahore metro buses crash

LAHORE – A woman died and 17 others were injured after two metro buses collided head-on with each other near Lahore’s Gajju Matta on Monday.

The accident took place near at the Dulu Khurd bus stop in Yauhanabad area of the Punjab capital city. The bus driver was among the injured, who were taken to the Lahore General Hospital.

The female passenger who lost the life in the accident has been identified as Amna. She was a resident of Kahna Nau area in Lahore, rescuers told reporters.

Following the accident, the damaged buses were removed from the tracks while the metro bus service has been suspended temporarily.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has taken notice of the incident, ordering an investigation to ascertain the cause of the incident.
