Shehbaz Sharif s exit from PAC merely a suggestion, says Rana Sanaullah

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz lawmaker Rana Sanaullah said on Monday that announcement of Shehbaz Sharif stepping down as Chairman of Public Accounts Committee was just a suggestion from the parliamentary party and will be discussed with the party leadership and other opposition parties.

Speaking on the floor of the National Assembly, Rana Sana said Shehbaz Sharif’s decision to leave chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee was not final.

Sana’s comments came after Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi criticised Shehbaz Sharif’s decision to nominate Rana Tanveer as his successor, calling it contrary to democratic norms.

Rana Sanaullah, in his response, questioned whether the resignation was received by Speaker Secretariat adding that the foreign minister was speaking on the matter on the basis of what he heard.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz had nominated Rana Tanveer on Thursday to replace Shehbaz Sharif as the PAC chairman in a shock decision.

Last year, Shehbaz Sharif was elected chairman of the parliamentary watchdog unopposed after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government conceded the chairmanship to the PML-N leader after weeks of negotiations.
