PPP leader Jahangir Badar dies at 72

LAHORE – Senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Jahangir Badar passed away at 72 in Lahore late Sunday night.

The former senator was rushed to a private hospital after he suffered a heart attack. Ali Badar, son of Jahangir Badar said his father was placed in the ICU, where the doctors made their best efforts to save his life but he could not recover and died late on Sunday night.

His funeral prayers will be offered at 4:00 PM today in Punjab University, new campus. PPPP has cancelled its planned meeting in Dubai today, following the news of Badar’s death.

Jahangir was a senior PPPP leader. He was a passionate supporter of the party and fought relentlessly against the military dictators with resilience. He was a close aide of slain PPP leader Benazir Bhutto. Condolence messages poured in in a large number as the news of his death made airwaves across the country.
