Ahsan Iqbal pays first surprise visit to Islamabad airport as interior minister

ISLAMABAD – The recently appointed Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal paid a surprise visit to the Islamabad international airport on Friday and inspected various sections of it.

Iqbal, who replaced Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and took the oath of his office under the new premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, attended a ceremony at National Police Bureau to pay rich tribute to the martyred policemen on Youm-e-Police Shuda.

The minister lavished praise on the valiant officials who sacrificed their lives for the country and pledged to work for the welfare of their families. The minister also met senior police officials and inquired about their departments.

At around 10.30 PM Iqbal headed to the Islamabad International Airport and visited its international immigration section.

He directed the airport officials not to provide VIP protocol to anyone and to ensure implementation of queue culture.

He commanded that the deployment of staff should be in accordance with the passengers’ load and asked commuters about the quality of services being provided to them.

Iqbal also issued special instructions that the immigration staff should pay heed to the grievances of incoming passengers so that they should feel comfortable.
