The prosecutor general has been directed to present an investigation report including the forensic report at the next hearing.

When the CJP expressed anger over the slow pace of the investigation, Inspector General of Police Punjab Arif Nawaz Khan said that probe was being carried out from different angles.

On April 1, people found the body of the seven-year-old, identified as Mubashira, from a nearby field after she went missing in Jaranwala. The body was later shifted to hospital for postmortem. The postmortem report of the minor girl confirmed that she was raped.

On Monday, police registered a case against unidentified suspects for raping and then killing the girl.

Police said that torture marks were found on the girl’s body, which has been handed over to the aggrieved family for burial. According to CCPO, some animal ate part of her body.

The City police station registered the FIR under sections of abduction, rape and murder following a complaint lodged by the minor’s father.

Following the incident, shops and markets were closed in Jaranwala in protest against the brutal act, demanding action against the culprits.
