Rahat Fateh Ali Khan made goodwill ambassador of British Asian Trust
LONDON/LAHORE - Pakistan’s music maestro Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has been appointed an ambassador of the British Asian Trust by UK’s Prince Charles.
The announcement was made over the weekend at the fourth annual dinner of the trust at the Guildhall, London.
Charles, the Prince of Wales, who is the president of the trust, announced Rahat's appointment as ambassador.
Rahat will be promoting the good work of British Asian Trust, which was founded in 2007 by Prince Charles and is focused on alleviating poverty in South Asia.
In a Twitter post, the internationally acclaimed singer said he is very honored to be given the title and hopes this will be his chance to give back to the community.
Besides sharing light moments with Prince Charles, Rahat also joined forces with performer Naughty Boy and gave a performance at the annual dinner.
Last year, the singer received an honorary shield from the world-famous university - Oxford.
He had also performed at one of the university's most historic venues, the Holywell Music Room, which is "the oldest music room of Europe, made in the 17th century. The Room was specially opened up for Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.
