ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Tuesday adjourned hearing till April 23, on an appeal of former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif challenging his imprisonment sentence in Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference.
A divisional bench comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiani also accepted the PMLN supremo’s request seeking exemption from hearing due to health issues.
During hearing on miscellaneous petitions of Nawaz Sharif and NAB, the ex-PM’s counsel Sher Afgan informed the bench that the apex court had granted bail to his client for medical treatment. He prayed the court to grant his client exemption from hearing as he was not able to appear due to health issues.
He requested the court to adjourn hearing of the case till next date.

Justice Aamer Farooq remarked that the petitioner’s counsel was supposed to give arguments on Nawaz Sharif’s main appeal in Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference.
At this, Sher Afgan answered that he couldn’t get the paper-book of the case due to that he couldn’t give arguments.
Expressing dissatisfaction, Justice Farooq asked Nawaz’s counsel to present logical argument keeping in view he was standing in courtroom.
The bench, however, accepted the exemption request of Nawaz Sharif and adjourned hearing on his appeal till April 23.
The same bench also adjourned the NAB appeal in Flagship Investment reference till April 29.
