DUBAI – Islamabad United pacer Muhammad Irfan has also been grilled after Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 2 allegedly became controversial following the suspension of Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif due to spot-fixing.
According to multiple media reports, his mobile phone was seized by the anti-corruption unit and he would be returning home today.
The tallest serving cricketer would be the third one to make his way back home as Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif have already reached Pakistan following allegations of corruption.
Irfan’s ouster from the super league would dent the defending champions Islamabad United which relied heavily on the star performer owing to his abnormal height.
Earlier on Friday, The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had provisionally suspended Islamabad United players Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif for their alleged involvement in spot-fixing.
‘Sharjeel and Latif have been suspended and the rigorous and wide-ranging investigation by the PCB supported by the International Cricket Council will continue as part of collective efforts to protect the integrity of the sport,’ the PCB said in a statement.
Pakistan Super League chairman Najam Sethi took to Twitter to clarify the zero tolerance policy adopted by the cricket board regarding corruption.
